Jon's (Fuji) Film Simulations

For my X100V and X-Pro3! 🙂 Not exactly a ‘hidden’ page on my site, but welcome! Re-ording custom settings is a PITA but here’s my current ordering:

Currents:

1. B-DUB

My personal preferred Black + White film sim, based on Acros Punch (see below) but not quite as contrasty (Acros Red, Shadows only +1, CC off)

  • Film base: Acros Red
  • Grain Effect: Off
  • Color Chrome Effect: Off
  • Color Chrome Effect Blue: Off
  • White Balance: Auto, +1 Red & 0 Blue
  • Dynamic Range: DR200
  • Highlight: +3
  • Shadow: +1
  • Color: 0
  • Sharpening: +3
  • Noise Reduction: 0
  • Clarity: 0
  • ISO: Auto
  • Exposure Compensation: +2/3 or more as needed

2. Classy Neg 2

Sort of playing this one against “Urban” (based on Jamie Chance’s Chrome Urban) — I think I’ve had enough experience with film sims that I’m understanding what I want out of classic neg. I really like how it handles skin-tones in memory- making situations (homey moments, vacations, etc. — non-nature, non-landscape) and want to give it a shot.

Mostly Gajan’s “Classy Neg” (in this list) with a couple slight tweaks

  • Film base: Classic Neg
  • Dynamic Range: DR200
  • Highlight: -2
  • Shadow: -2
  • Color: +2
  • Noise Reduction: -2
  • Sharpening: +2
  • Clarity: 0
  • Grain Effect: None
  • Color Chrome Effect: Off
  • Color Chrome Effect Blue: Off
  • White Balance: Auto R1,B-1
  • ISO: Auto
  • Exposure Compensation: +1/3-2/3

3. Urban

For use in town/city life; buildings, stuff, indoors, day-to-day things.

Based off of Jamie Chance’s Chrome Urban but with no NR (no grain) and brought the shadows down to -2

  • Film base: Classic Chrome
  • Dynamic Range: Auto (wow!)
  • Highlight: 0
  • Shadow: -2
  • Color: +3
  • Noise Reduction: 0
  • Sharpening: +2
  • Clarity: 0
  • Grain Effect: Off
  • Color Chrome Effect: Off
  • Color Chrome Effect Blue: Off
  • White Balance: Auto, +1 Red & 0 Blue
  • ISO: Auto
  • Exposure Compensation: As needed

4. Warm Travel

Similar to Travel but based on Goughie’s Astia instead!

Added +2 sharpness and leaving clarity at 0 as to not slow down shooting experience. Also left out his grain preference.

  • Film base: Astia
  • Dynamic Range: DR200
  • Highlight: -1
  • Shadow: -1
  • Color: +2
  • Noise Reduction: 0
  • Sharpening: +2
  • Clarity: 0
  • Grain Effect: None
  • Color Chrome Effect: Strong
  • Color Chrome Effect Blue: Off
  • White Balance: Auto +4 Red -4 Blue
  • ISO: Auto
  • Exposure Compensation: +2/3 or more as needed

5. Travel

For generally fun, popping colors typically found while traveling! Beaches and sand and such, but not so popping as full-on landscape

Based off of Jamie Chance’s Travel Astia but named more to the use-case and with no NR

  • Film base: Astia
  • Dynamic Range: DR AUTO
  • Highlight: -1
  • Shadow: +2
  • Color: +2
  • Noise Reduction: 0
  • Sharpening: +2
  • Clarity: 0
  • Grain Effect: None
  • Color Chrome Effect: Off
  • Color Chrome Effect Blue: Off
  • White Balance: Auto +1 Red 0 Blue
  • ISO: Auto
  • Exposure Compensation: As needed

6. Landscape

“Landscape” is the usage-name for Jon’s Velvia:
