Ride Rundown: Opening the Road Season Early 03/01/2020

Looks like spring may be arriving a bit earlier than expected here in Ohio! While the picture above is actually from last fall and it’s not that green out yet, I absolutely wasn’t going to pass up a 50° weather day for the first road ride of the season! After a winter full of riding The Tank - which is a fun bike to ride.. but very much made to go slow and crush terrain - it was an absolute blast to ⬅️ just go fast 💨

Between riding a proper road bike again, starting this season off about 50 lbs lighter than how I started last season, and generally feeling excited for the miles ahead, Sunday was a great day. The route ended up being a standard jaunt down and back on the Olentangy:

Hitting a few segments of 5+ minutes at sustained >20 mph on the latter half of the ride felt pretty stellar. I’m very much looking forward to feeling out the same miles from last year after some pretty major life changes and seeing how far I can push myself. Bring on the centuries! As always, keep your direction. Forever Forward.
